Communicating & Collaborating for Results
An essential skill of effective managers is the ability to connect with people in a way that is meaningful. Understanding and being understood depend upon a shared frame of reference, which usually takes time, patience and persistence to develop. During this workshop, you will discover that listening is not the same as waiting to talk, and that talking is not the same as communicating effectively.
Communication can be difficult even in the best of circumstances. By learning to respect and adapt to different communication styles, you will significantly improve your ability to enhance relationships and deliver results. Collaboration is critical to a team dedicated to achieving results. However, teamwork takes work. Forging alignment on a set of common goals while respecting diversity of needs and viewpoints can be challenging. At the workshop, you will be guided in the development of a team contract that will establish norms for healthy interactions, and support more authentic and caring relationships. In any organization, conflicts arise. The point isn’t to try to avoid conflicts, but to learn to resolve them in ways that lift people up rather than tear them down, and that create a foundation of core values that strengthens the integrity of the organization. During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to practice giving and receiving feedback, and resolving issues in a responsible manner that enables you to move forward with increased trust and respect for one another. |
